I didn't do much on Monday. I went for a run around the lakes. Unfortunately I miss eating breakfast with Ida and Jens but I did talk for them for a bit when I got back from the run. I was trying to explain about pussy willows but they didn't know what I was talking about. I watched some of Shrek. Ida was doing work on her PhD and Jens went off to work on the sailboat. I did some reading, started researching and writing a paper I have to do for environmental history. I am going to write about what the EU is doing about climate change. I had lunch with my host family they had made an omlet. Elizabeth came over and we watched Clueless together. I talked with Molly and Megan on IM.
We had pasta with meat sauce and veggies for dinner. I thought it was so funny Karen said that she was hungry and Ida come back with "I'm danish." Nice play on words.
After dinner I helped Karen on an essay she had to write for English class about a book they are reading. I helped with vocab and general phrasing of sentences, but basically she is great at English.
Tuesday it was back to classes. I went for a run over to a new park but got a bit turned around and it ended up being longer than I meant. It was a bit rainy but warm and a very nice run.
I came back and read the news online. Riots in Iraq because of the anniversary of the take over.
I got a fun package from Lucy Miller and a card from Elyse Braner. Made my day happy!
Went into class. Peter Christiansen told us a story about how his wife wanted faster internet but getting the router set up was difficult so they had no internet for a couple weeks. His daughter is a relatively famous actress. We learned about WWII (the resistance movements in Denmark and France and the economic and demographic effect on the countries). I had lunch with Elizabeth. Talked with other PCD friends. So nice to see everyone again and hear about all the adventures they are having.
In environmental history we learned about how institutionalized govt. was able to stop the spread of diseases with vaccination and quarantine and stop famine by regulating prices and moving food the areas that need it. Peter Christiansen didn't have our midterm papers becuase he had to take his other daughter (the one who is not the actress) to the airport to go to Australia. He was up really early and just forgot the papers.
Danish was fine. We talked with partners and used all the vocab we were supposed to know from before study break. We then learned past tense and present perfect tense.
I went to the main station to get my transportation pass. Now I am no longer being a rebel and riding illegally. I got away a few times with just showing my old pass and they didn't look that carefully. Terrible I know! I also got a clip card for Laura Bram when she comes.
I went home and talked with Karen for a while. We talked about grading systems and classes and stuff. They are making beer in her chemistry class. Pretty cool. I told her about the experimentarium where we are going tomorrow for a PCD practicum field study to experience being blind.
I talked with Laura on AIM and planned what we will do when she comes this weekend.
We got pizza for dinner but from a different place than we have been going. It was OK but not as good.
